Announcements

FAITH AND CULTURE FORUM… Join us this Wednesday from 5:45-7:30 for our first topic. We’ll begin with fellowship around a provided meal (5:45-6:30; suggested $5 donation/person), followed by a time for kids (kindergarten – 5th grade) and the forum for adults (6:30-7:30). This session will introduce the issues around how to live well within our culture that we’ll be exploring in the coming months.  C. S. Lewis once said, “The most dangerous ideas in a society are not the ones that are being argued, but the ones that are assumed.”  We’ll identify how culture shapes us and how the Bible gives us perspective to live in our culture for the glory of God. Please let Pastor Steve (steve@faith-epc.org) know if you’re coming so we can plan for the right amount of food.

WOMEN OF FAITH FALL PRAYER BREAKFAST… Saturday, October 21st from 9:30AM—11:30 at the Church. Please sign-up at the ministry table in the hallway. If you are able, please bring a dish to pass. Questions? Contact Nancy Henson.

RETIRED MEN’S STUDY GROUP… Please join us on the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month at noon. Our first study will be Dr. Mary Neal’s new best seller, “7 Lessons from Heaven, How Dying Taught Me to Live a Joy-Filled Life.” We’ll contrast her thoughts on Heaven with the BIBLE, the Westminster Confession and other well-known authors such as Billy Graham. Contact Tom Austin or Tom Henson for more details. We will start on October 11th.

SENIOR SERVANTS (AGES 50+) POTLUCK, WORSHIP AND GAME NIGHT… Join us on the 4th Friday of the month starting October 27th. While we’ll be part of the previously announced game night for all church members and friends. We‘ll have the opportunity to socialize and make new friends with others in our church family. We will supply senior friendly games and conversation. Contact Tom Austin or Tom Henson.

EPC WIDE CALL FOR PRAYER FOR ANDREW BRUNSON… EPC pastor Andrew Brunson has now been unjustly imprisoned in Turkey for a year now. The EPC leadership is asking everyone in the EPC to consider fasting and praying for Andrew this Saturday, October 7, and for our churches pray for Andrew and Norine during their worship services on Sunday, October 8. We’ll be doing that on Sunday, and we encourage you all to pray for the Brunsons on Saturday, even considering fasting one or more meals to do so (praying for them during the time you would normally set aside to eat). Regardless of whether or not you fast, your prayers are valued! You can read the EPC communications about Andrew over the last year to learn more on the EPC Website if interested.

TUTORING SERVICE OPPORTUNITY… We are looking for volunteers who are willing to serve as SOAR reading mentors at the EPC 5point7 Community Church in Detroit on Monday and/or Wednesday evenings from 5:00PM—6:00PM. The program starts in October and goes through the end of the school year. Please contact Pat or Margaret Dolan if you would like to sign-up.
