August 20 Announcements

This Sunday

THEOLOGY ON TAP THIS TUESDAY… Theology on Tap is a group of friends who meet monthly to enjoy a good craft beer or soda together as we discuss how theology relates to everyday life and contemporary questions. Please join us this month on Tuesday, August 22nd from 8:00-9:30PM at Hamlin Pub (Rochester and Hamlin Road). We will discuss chapter 3 on Martin Luther from the book “The Theology of the Reformers.” Reading the chapter we will be discussing ahead of time is encouraged, but not required.

MID-YEAR MISSIONS UPDATE… Make sure to join us on September 10 for worship (9:45) and the kick-off of our education hour afterwards (11:10-noon)  for an update on how God is working through our missionary partners, as well as a “next step” for how we, at Faith Church, can truly partner with them in their ministries. Youth and adults will be together during the education hour for the update, and elementary-age kids will have their own special program in their classes downstairs. Don’t miss it!

SERVE THE CHILDREN OF FAITH CHURCH THIS FALL AND WINTER… Looking to add a little fun and energy to your Sunday mornings? Consider teaching Sunday school when it starts back up for fall. All materials are provided. There are some opportunities available to teach on a rotating basis. Please contact Ann Strombeck ( or 248.690.9659) if you have questions or would like to sign-up.

HOLY SMOKE BBQ!… August 26th. Guys, it’s time to register to attend the Holy Smoke BBQ.  The format is a backyard BBQ competition with everyone in attendance casting a vote for their favorite baby back ribs! You can just show up and eat and vote on who has the best ribs, or you can be one of our competitors and cook up your best recipe for everyone to sample. Come anytime between 9:00 AM and Noon; we’ll eat/judge at 1 PM. $15, but competitors are free. Register at  See Pastor Steve for more information.
